Latest from Samsung : Galaxy camera Unboxing video

Latest from Samsung : Galaxy camera Unboxing video.

Smartphone cameras are good, great even. In a lot of cases, they’ve replaced point-and-shoots because they offer quality in a hyper-connected package. Snap a photo, and instantly upload it to a social network of your choice. What if, to compete, a company mashed up the guts and OS of a popular smartphone, and put it into a point-and-shoot body? That’s basically Samsung’s new Galaxy Camera.

This is essentially a Galaxy S III combined with a point-and-shoot: 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Android Jelly Bean, LTE/Wi-Fi, and 4.8-inch LCD display. It looks remarkably like Samsung’s Smart Camera, with a few obvious differences. One being no interchangeable lens, which is expected for a point-and-shoot. As for the camera itself, it comes with a 1/2.3-inch, backside-illuminated image sensor, 16-megapixel,  and 23mm, 21x optical zoom lens.
We’re really interested to see if the point-and-shoot experience is heightened with a popular smartphone OS onboard. It’s an intriguing mashup, one that’ll no doubt cater to those who want to snap pictures and get them up onto a social network as soon as possible. For $500 through AT&T, it might be hovering in that realm where it’s just too expensive for most consumers to pick up.
Check out the video for a full unboxing and quick impressions, and stay tuned for a review soon.
