| Avan Ivan - Movie review ( tamil ) |
Avan Ivan begins on a bright note. The characterisations by Bala is the hallmark of the movie. He manages to leave a mark with his typical style once the screen unfolds. But beware, it is no normal Bala film. It has its own commercial cliches. It proceeds on predictable path at few places. But the shrewd narration marked with a difference makes the movie count.
There are loads of comedy that is not like the Crazy Mohan stuff one we normally associate in Tamil cinema.
It is more a realistic comedy that we often see in our daily lives. The humour sometimes dark is praiseworthy.
Second half starts on a slow note but proceeds with engaging scenes. The film heads to climax that is wholesome and entertaining. S Ramakrishnan's sweet and simple dialogues bring the lives of innocent rural people before our eyes.
Bala has proved why he is a master filmmaker for he blends commercial cinema with off-beat stuff making the end product awesome and amazing.
Performances:
It's Vishal all the way. The actor who had been doing mindless masalas till now, has brought out his histrionic skills very well. He is amazing and outstanding at a squint-eyed youth. He is good in his body language and dialogue delivery. Bala has discovered a new Vishal.
Not far behind is Aarya. The actor oozes with amazing energy and his comedy skills are a treat to watch. His encounter with police and the chase with them is the hallmark of the film.
Suriya's cameo, Ambika's bold performance and the presence of two leading ladies who emote well - Madhu Shalini and Janani Iyer, deserves an applause.
RK is the typical baddie in the movie. He gives right expressions. As a wicked man, he suits the character well.
Walking away with all honours is G M Kumar. The veteran is the pillar of the film. He lends solidity to the script with is performance. He has proved that not just the lead heroes but even character artistes can lend solidity to scripts with the astute performance. Bala's success in every film lies in casting right persons and extracting the best from each of them.

listen to Venghai mp3 songs online free, venghai audio review
Venghai
Direction: Hari
Star-casts: Dhanush, Tamanna, Raj Kiran, Prakash Raj, Ganja Karuppu and others
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Lyrics: Viveka, Hari
As is the case with his earlier or any project, Hari has got the cast in Prakash Raj, Raj Kiran and above all this film has the appearance of Goundamani after a long spell of break in Tamil movies. After Singam’s scintillating songs, Hari has been very much impressed with Devi Sri Prasad and in this Vengai too DSP has scored some good numbers. With the movie rights to be hold by the Sun Pictures , the audio rights is to be taken by Sony Music.

1. Dhinam Dhinam:
Vocals: Benny Dayal, Baba SegalLyrics: Viveka
The title song in Hari’s films usually happens to be mass numbers and this one isn’t exception. Much alike the previous albums with Hari, Viveka has penned same-patterned lyrics. Baba Segal adds more intensity to the appeal and DSP sets up the celebration with his fast-paced composition.
2. Kaalangathala
Vocals: KarthikLyrics: Viveka
A swinging melodic solo by Karthik and he is far-famed for such musical genres. Devi Sri Prasad gives a mild effect to the instrumentals. The lyrics are quite simple and it may take some more time for the song to acquire everyone’s interests.
3. Yenna Solla Pore
Vocals: DSP, ML KarthikeyanLyrics: Hari
Devi Sri Prasad gets down to set the mood right with his appealing vocalism. The beat from rhythm box is very much familiar, but DSP has tried adding a different flavor. The interludes and preludes are same as in his previous melodic tracks. Hari has picked some catchy words and has done it effortlessly.
4. Orey Oru
Vocals: Tippu, HariniLyrics: Viveka
Tippu and DSP together have streaked with big success over many songs. This time, the ace singer is on the tracks with his wife-playback singer Harini. Much alike the previous numbers, Devi Sri Prasad avoids jarring sound over the vocals. The trio delivers a commendable piece of work. The instrumental works are balmy and suits well for the nature of song.
5. Pudikale Pidikidhu
Vocals: Mukesh, SuchitraLyrics: Viveka
Typical Kuthu number with the trademark of DSP…. It sounds like the song will appear during the final reel of the film as it happens with Hari’s films. Mukesh has crooned the song giving it the right feel and so is Suchitra. On the whole, ‘Vengai’ has more mass numbers and it’s refreshing in few portions. With Sun Pictures giving a right punch of promotions, the songs would surely top the charts shortly.
