Kempegowda's Bengaluru in Kempegowda fever The Kempegowda fever is gripping a large number of Sudeep fans plus trade circles in Sandalwood. The great level of expectancy for Kempegowda is comparable to that for Puneeth Rajkumar's Jackie and Upendra's Super. Despite the ICC Cricket World Cup and other competing entertainments that attract audiences, the expectations are very high for Kempegowda. Perhaps the spirit of Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru, would be wondering what this film is ... all about. Mylari was also a big hit but it did not have the hype of Jackie, Super and now Kempegowda.
The trade circles were pleasantly surprised by Mylari reaching high levels of success. Jackie and Super came with great expectations and received very good responses. Now Kempegowda directed by Sudeep is creating the same magic as Jackie and Super. The production cost of Kempegowda is much less than that of Jackie or Super (less than Rs. 5 crores excluding Sudeep's remuneration). But Sudeep is technically very sound and is known to experiment with available resources. Sudeep's fans believe their favourite actor will not disappoint and history will be repeated following the success of Veera Madakari and My Autograph. The distributors who have purchased the film's rights (at around Rs. 7 crores, the highest ever for a Sudeep film) without seeing a single frame, trusting the charismatic appeal of Sudeep and his skills as a director. Never before has a Sudeep film been sold for huge prices before release. If we add Rs. 2 crores from satellite and audio rights, producer Shankare Gowda has already made a profit even before the film's release. Will Kempegowda (remake of Tamil hit film Singam) create a magic spell around the Kannada audience? We sure hope so.
